Technion City Facilities
Technion’s main campus, also known as Technion City, is located on a 300 acre/1.2 square kilometer site on the pine-covered north-eastern slopes of Mount Carmel, Haifa. This modern and vibrant campus will provide students with all of the modern amenities and services they will need to study and live comfortably at Technion.
Extensive sports facilities are available on campus, including a gymnasium, fitness center, an Olympic swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a basketball court. The Canada Recreation Center offers various classes for students such as ballroom dancing, Pilates, belly dancing, yoga and kickboxing.
More than 200 courses in 51 sports are offered in the Physical Education and Sports Department. Over 500 students play on 34 different teams in the various Academic Sports Association events. All students are encouraged to find a sport activity that they can enjoy.
Computer Farm – The Taub Computer Center
Technion City is like a city that never sleeps, with student access to computer labs available 24 hours a day. The Taub Computer Center offers centralized computer services such as email and Internet. The CALL Lab helps students strengthen their scientific and technical English language skills. A teaching team prepares faculty-specific programs and multimedia modules offer instruction in German, French, Russian, Arabic, Italian and Spanish.
Students at the Technion have access to some of the finest research libraryThe Elyachar Central Library at Technion City is one of the most comprehensive and advanced information centers in Israel, joining 18 specialized faculty libraries with combined holdings of over 1,000,000 volumes and 8,000 journal subscriptions. Computerized sources include indices, multimedia databases, abstracts and full text. Students also have access to a virtual library, with access to online information, full-text journals and databases.
Restaurants: Snack Bars, Cafeterias & Cafés
There is no shortage of places to eat on campus, with some 20 food establishments offering a taste of home – wherever home may be – American, Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Israeli, Thai, Italian and Indian cuisines. All-but-two have “kosher” certification. There are several cafeterias that serve hot meals and many cafes that serve salads, sandwiches and coffee, open Sunday through Thursday located at the Senate Building, Faculty of Physics, Student Union Building, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ulmann Building, Mechanical Engineering, Amado Building, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Swimming Pool,* and “Junta” Pub in the Student Union Building.*
The restaurant at the swimming pool and the Junta Pub are the only non-kosher restaurants on campus, as they are open on Shabbat (Saturday).
Technion’s on-campus Ohel Aharon synagogue complex holds regular daily services throughout the year. Information on prayer times and study groups can be obtained by calling +972 (0)4-8292459
There are several synagogues off campus in the Neve Shaanan neighbourhood that are within walking distance (15-20 minutes) of the dormitories.
A list of churches and mosques in Haifa can be obtained from the Haifa Tourist Board.
There are several minimarkets situated on campus. There is a large Supersol supermarket in walking distance (10-15 minutes) from the Technion campus.
Bookstore – Michlol
The campus bookstore is located beneath the Churchill Auditorium. Its opening hours are:

Student Center Complex: Shopping & Recreation
The new Student Center on campus is an all-encompassing complex that houses everything from restaurants to a movie theater to gift shops and pubs.

Second Floor: Retail stores, pharmacy and restaurants
Third Floor: Offices, movie theatre, pub and dancing hall
Student Union Store
The Student Union Store is located on the ground floor of the Student Union BUILDING.
In the dorms, there are laundry rooms for student use 24/7. The nominal cost for students to use the machines is NIS 2 for the washing machine and NIS 1 for 10 minutes of drying time.
The Technion post office is situated below the Central Library, across from the Student Union Building. Opening hours are: Sunday – Thursday from 08:00 – 15:30.
At Technion, we take action. Recycling is a big part of life on campus. Plastic bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, and batteries can be recycled using the recycling bins throughout the campus. In addition you can find compost bins next to the dorms. Students are encouraged to use bicycles when traveling through the campus. Bike racks are situated outside each building and outside the dorms.
Through the Green Campus Project, students have helped build devices for saving and recycling water, participated in waste recycling projects and designed eco-smart buildings.
At the Gutwirth Ecological Garden, students nurture plants that can develop with minimal irrigation and gardening care. Students also lead guided tours and workshops for the public in the gardens.
